If you wish to apply to take part in the programme, please indicate your interest in the application form.

TFFS will hold first interviews by video call.

Those who pass the interview will be invited to a Selection Day which will be held in London and Edinburgh in the Autumn. You may indicate your preferences for the Selection Day location and whether you prefer to attend in the morning or afternoon, via the application form.

At the interview, and the Selection Day, you will have the opportunity to meet the team and to ask any questions about the course.

At the Selection Day, you will be put through a selection process in which you will be asked to carry out tasks in groups and assessed on your performance. The performance criteria will be primarily based on your attitude to teamwork. A film production relies heavily upon calm cooperation and collaboration. You will be assessed on your ability to understand a simple brief, and cooperate with a team.

If you like what you see at the interview and you pass the assessment, you’ll be offered a position at TFFS.

You will need to accept that position in writing and be in a position to pay 50% of the fees in September 2026, and the balance by March 2027.

If you need help with the fees, please speak to us about potential bursaries and support.

Application Process

TFFS will rely upon calm energy and enthusiasm from all participants.

The programme will run from Monday-Thursday, 09:00 - 17:00, for eleven months, with opportunities for other activities or commitments on Fridays and weekends.

Filmmakers will be assigned a role based upon their preference, ability and experience, at the discretion of TFFS staff. This assignment will be carried out in dialogue with each Filmmaker, and will ensure a positive experience for all.

All Filmmakers will share equal representation, responsibility, and respect. Filmmakers require to approach all filmmaking activities with no expectation of formal hierarchy, regardless of role or department. The activities of TFFS and its Filmmakers will reflect this at all times.

TFFS has its home in a working film production environment, which entails many benefits and industry standard restrictions. Filmmakers will be bound by strict confidentiality rules regarding the premises and film at all times.

The working environment will necessitate appropriate attire, including sturdy footwear and non-snagging clothing. Daily activities will require physical activity, and preparation should reflect this.

TFFS will be available to support Filmmakers in their filmmaking endeavours and their life beyond TFFS.
